Things have changed; it's a different world

Gradually how things have changed. More than a different time, it is a different world.
People of a certain age can remember when a prayer in school was the norm, and when flying on a plane was an adventure not started with an inquisition. It was before genetically modified food, and when your old Ford or Chevy was made in the USA.
This was before cash for clunkers, NAFTA, CAFTA, and the so-called great world economy.
I remember names like Hudson, Studebaker, and Packard. There was no Walmart or Burger King, it was, for the most part, family-owned businesses. Mom would buy most of what she needed to feed the family from the local farmer. The same farmer had a son, or employee delivering milk and eggs.
You did not have to worry about China putting poison in your dog's food, or lead paint in toys, because most of what you bought was made right here in the USA.
There was no press one for English, and a youngster had better not let the teacher call saying they were not behaving in school.
There were no metal detectors or armed guards in the schools, or people being worried about terrorists, and police officers were respected.
Other things I remember. More people would say things like, "yes sir, or "no ma'am. Anyone attacking the elderly, the knock out game, would have most likely been beaten by the men of the town.
There was a real sense of pride about being an American, no stories of people marching around with another county's flag, or being told you could not display ours.
Being a Christian was looked upon as a good thing. Marriage was between a man, woman, and God. Service in the military was, for many, a family tradition. No one was trying to turn the Boy Scouts into Girl Scouts. If a person was walking around with their pants pulled down, some adult would tell them to stop acting like an idiot and pull them up.
Sure there were always crooked politicians, and those that were criminals, people were less accepting of it. When someone did something really terrible they were not excused for it because of how they had been raised, or because they felt someone had done their ancestors an injustice.
Our borders were secured; another country would not dare invade because they knew what would happen. Others may not have loved us, but they sure were smart enough to fear us.
So how did we get to where we are now? I think it may have all started when excuses for bad behavior became acceptable reasons for the behavior. In part, this was caused by very well-meaning people having empathy for the less fortunate.
Kindness was taken for weakness. Those that were born into privilege never learned to appreciate what they had, or those that had sacrificed for providing them the freedom they enjoyed.
This became a feeding ground for those that would destroy America. From this grew what is today called the liberal or progressive movement. There was a time this was called communism.
So what is communism? It is an ideology diametrically opposed to capitalism and individual freedom and liberty. It contains a totalitarian elitist class that enjoys great material wealth at the expense of all others.
The propaganda preaches false advocacy for the downtrodden and disenfranchised. It relies on the uniformed and uneducated. Pillars of this are indoctrination of the masses; Common Core, and dividing people against themselves. Mantras are the redistribution of wealth and grand social programs. It also includes the removal of monuments and the "burning of records." Does this sound familiar?
The current administration has targeted conservative groups and identified veterans, pro-life activists, Christian religious groups, and the Tea Party as the single greatest threat to our country. Do you believe this is true?
I believe today's Democratic Party has been hijacked by socialists/liberals/progressives, a.k.a communists. Many do not even understand it has occurred. They blindly listen to sound bites and just follow along.
Mankind has a very violent past. Those that deny this do so at their own peril. Our country was taken and won by men with guns. It was not pretty, but that is the truth of it. Another truth is other men with guns want to take it. If you doubt this, turn on your television and see what is going on all over the world.
It is a reason to pay attention to local elections. If someone has identified with today's Democratic Party, even if they do not knowingly subscribe to the ideology, by so electing they have done so.
The good old days, remember them. What will your children and grandchildren remember?
There are only 18 days left to register to vote in the November 2014 election. Vote! Take a stand for your own freedom.
