You silly wabbit, "Democrats also voted for fracking"
Week to week, for months, I have seen the Chairman of the Franklin County Democratic Party’s never ending campaigning against North Carolina Republican State Sen. Chad Barefoot in the column he writes in this paper. (reference is to the Franklin Times Newspaper, published in Louisburg, NC)
For the Democratic Party and Barefoot’s challenger in particular, this is a pretty good deal. They get the benefit of the advertising without having to pay for it. I suspect this will continue up through the November general election.
Could the value of this be considered an “in-kind” campaign contribution?
For the most part, knowing and seeing this for what it is, I file it, like I feel many do, under political noise. It is the same old yak, yak, yak.
The end game with this is to do whatever it takes for the Democratic Party to regain control of the State Senate.
When I say doing whatever it takes, that is exactly what I mean. It includes suppressing the vote.
During the recent primary, people went to the Franklin County Democratic Headquarters to register to vote. I know of those that prior to being allowed to register were asked who they were going to vote for.
When their replies did not meet with approval, an effort was made to change their minds. When that did not work, they were told their “paperwork” was not in order and could not register.
The very same day, these people went to the Board of Elections Office in Louisburg and registered without incident.
Then there was the party endorsement of a candidate that is currently the subject of an inquiry /investigation for violation of campaign finance law.
I could fill pages with examples that make the point of rules and ethics, even laws do not matter to those that use these tactics. It is winning at all cost.
The end justifies the means.
The end does not justify the means. Officials are, by oath, morally bound to do what is right, because it is right.
For a minute or so, let us take a look at the drum Mr. Marciniak keeps beating on about Sen. Barefoot.
One of his tunes is fracking. If your only source of information on fracking is what the Franklin County Democratic Party writes in this paper you may come away with, Senator Barefoot is the force, and only force behind the effort.
The truth is the voting on the legislation passed with bi-partisan support.
Oh, “what’s that you say,” Democrats voted and advocated for it too. “Yes ma,am, they did. Wow, I wonder why Mr. Marciniak leaves that part out.
If you do not believe this, check it out for yourself.
Could it be he leaves it out for the same reason he endorses the use of prefilled out ballots being passed out at polling places in Franklin County with the bubbles already filled in telling people who to vote for?
Is it part of a much bigger effort to manipulate the ballot box, as opposed to giving the entire story and then letting people make their own judgment?
The inference is people are not bright enough to decide for themselves who they want to vote for.
In my opinion, cherry picking information and using sound bites to influence the vote is tantamount to propaganda. Voter fraud has many faces.
The intent with the rhetoric on fracking has little, if anything to do with fracking, or Chad Barefoot.
The big picture is the pursuit of an agenda to win back the North Carolina Senate and return to more spending and larger government.
I honestly feel if Elmer Fudd, the cartoon character, was challenging for this office, the chairman of the Franklin County Democratic Party would tell you Elmer was the best person for the job.
Ever wonder why you no longer see Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd cartoons anymore? Liberals thought those cartoons were sexist, too violent, racist, etc.
They have a lot of ideas about other things too, like your First and Second amendment rights, and amnesty for people invading our county. How is your new health care plan working for you?
Take the time to learn about the issues and vote for who you feel supports your views. Don’t be “A silly wabbit”.
As for Sen. Chad Barefoot, I know him personally. He is a fine young man. To suggest he would knowingly and wantonly do anything that would harm our environment, the place his wife and child lives in, is nonsense.
I suspect Chairman Marciniak, will continue to campaign for the Democratic Party and beat the drum against Chad Barefoot; follow the money.
I wonder why he is not writing about democratic challenger, Mrs. Sarah Crawford’s very, very close connection to a left wing environmental group?
Oh, did I mention, “follow the money”, and you will find the rest of the story?
By the way did you know Governor McCrory recently signed off on legislation Barefoot introduced to protect student privacy?
Just thought it was time to give a little perspective.
I may do so again sometime in the future.
